Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

The faculty holds an unique position amongst other veterinary faculties across Europe. Its division into different sections helps students to gain professional knowledge from the entire spectrum of veterinary medicine.

Faculty sections

Section of Morphology and Physiology

During the study of physiology, you will be introduced to the normal functions of living organisms and their parts. While studying morphology, you will be familiarized with the particular form, shape, or structure of an organ during its normal physiological state.

Section of Pathological Biology

During this part of the course, you will be presented with the mechanism and essential nature of a disease. More specifically you will be allowed to explore the morphological changes associated with the form, shape or structure of the organ caused by the pathological process.

Section of Small Animals Diseases

This portion of the course will demonstrate to you the intricate nature of small animal medicine. This will encompass everything ranging from small animal internal medicine to surgery and orthopaedics. In addition you shall be educated in the intricacies of exotic animal medicine.

Section of Large Animals Diseases

During this portion of the course you will be familiarised with the internal medicine, surgery and orthopaedics of large animals. Additionally you will be introduced to the internal medicine of swine, ruminants and equine.

Institute of the History of Veterinary Medicine

The Institute of the History of Veterinary Medicine houses materials about the life and work of veterinarians, clippings about Czechoslovak veterinary institutions, photographic and film footage from veterinary activities, veterinary instruments and medicines from the practice and other art objects.

Master's degree programme

The study programme covers the entire scope of veterinary medicine. It is, however, strongly focused on diagnostics, therapy and prevention of diseases of various species. Studies are concluded with the state exam consisting of several partial exams from clinical subjects chosen by the student. Graduates are awarded the title “doctor of veterinary medicine” abbreviated as “MVDr.”.

Application

Applicant must submit an online application. Admission to the Master's study programme is conditional upon the completion of secondary education. The applicant is obligated to deliver personally or by post: high school leaving certificate, 1 passport photo and completed Medical certificate. The entrance examination will be held in the form of a test in biology and chemistry based on secondary schools' knowledge.

International students pay tuition fees at their own expense. It is required that the fee is paid in total prior to the beginning of the academic year or it can be paid in a maximum of four installments during the relevant academic year.

The entrance exam consists of biology and chemistry. The areas of questions are listed on the school's website.
